An avid sportsman, he entered senior league football as a member of St. George’s Football Team in 1956. Following the establishment of the Bahamas Football Association in 1967, he was elected to the office of Vice President and served in that capacity until 1979. In 1980, he was elected as President of the Bahamas Football Association and served until 1989.

Elected as a Vice President of the Bahamas Olympic Association in 1984, he served in that capacity until 2008. During this period, he represented The Bahamas as Chef de Mission of the Olympic delegation at multiple global competitions inclusive of the Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea in 1988, Barcelona, Spain in 1992. In 1976, he was a founding member of the Bahamas Association of Certified Officials (BACO) for Track and Field in the Bahamas of which he remained an active member of the group for many, many more years.

For Mr. Davies’ extensive contributions to the sport of soccer, the Bahamas Football Federation honoured him in 2009 by naming the only synthetic soccer pitch in the country, located in the Blue Hills Sporting Complex after him.

When the Anti-Doping In Sports Act, 2009 was enacted by the Parliament of The Bahamas  the Bahamas Anti-Doping Commission was established as a Statutory body of which Mr. Davies was appointed as one of its original Directors where he brilliantly served in the priority focused area of the Commission as Chairman of the Education and Training Committee.

The Ministry extends its sincere condolences to the bereaved family, and members of the sporting community. May his soul rest in peace.
