UPDATE: Nassau's Passport Office will open normal operating hours tomorrow.  BEC has restored power.

THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND IMMIGRATION WISHES TO NOTIFY THE PUBLIC THAT DUE TO ELECTRICAL ISSUES SURROUNDING BEC'S TRANSFORMER AND SUBSEQUENT FAILURE OF THE BACKUP GENERATOR FOR THE PASSPORT OFFICE IN NASSAU, THE OFFICE IS WITHOUT ELECTRICAL POWER.

AS A RESULT, THE PASSPORT OFFICE IS OUT OF OPERATION UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

THE MINISTRY HAS BEEN ASSURED THAT REPAIRS ARE UNDERWAY AS A MATTER OF PRIORITY IN LIGHT OF THE ESSENTIAL NATURE OF THAT OFFICE'S SERVICE TO THE BAHAMIAN PUBLIC.

THE MINISTRY WILL ADVISE OF ALL FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
