National Remembrance Day Ceremonies Mark 100th Anniversary of Events Ending World War 1

Nassau, The Bahamas - A National Remembrance Day Church Service was held at Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday, November 11, 2018 marking the 100th Anniversary of events ending World War 1.

Governor General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Marguerite Pindling and Prime Minister, Dr. the Most Hon. Hubert Minnis headed a list of government officials in attendance.  British Legion Bahamas Branch World War veterans were present, and are pictured in front pew of the cathedral.  The Christ Church Cathedral Choir is photographed performing a selection.  Community organizations marched in the Annual Parade to the Garden of Remembrance, where a solemn ceremony was held, and wreaths were placed at the Cenotaph.

The British Legion Bahamas Branch held a number of events to celebrate the 100th year milestone: Presentation of Official Poppy to the Governor General, October 30; a Centennial Military Ball, November 3; 100th Anniversary Military Parade and Wreath-Laying Ceremony, Rawson Square, November 4; 100th Anniversary Church Service of Thanksgiving at St. Agnes Anglican Parish & Parade to the Bahamas Veterans Cemetery where there was a short wreath-laying ceremony, November 10.  Events led up to the National Remembrance Day Church Service at Christ Church Cathedral, today.  (BIS Photos/Patrick Hanna)
