Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis accepted a $100,000 donation from ALIV to help fund The Bahamas’ participation in Dubai Expo 2020, during a check presentation at the Office of the Prime Minister on Monday, 28 October.

The funds will go toward the development of The Bahamas Pavilion that will showcase the resilience of The Bahamas in the wake of Hurricane Dorian and what the country has to offer to the global community, including investment opportunities, skills and culture.

The six-month Expo, which runs October 2020 to April 2021, will feature 180 countries and is expected to attract 25 million visitors from across the globe. The theme of the Dubai 2020 Expo is “Connecting minds, creating the future.”

The initiative is being driven by the Government’s National Committee for Expo 2020, which is comprised of government agencies, academia, the private sector and civil society.

The Prime Minister thanked ALIV – the title sponsor – for the donation and noted the importance of public and private sector partnerships.
