Re-opening of Private Pre-Schools and Daycare Centres

The public is hereby informed that pursuant to the Emergency Powers (Covid 19) (No. 5) Order, 2020, the Early Childhood Care Act, 2004 (“the Act”) and the Early Childhood Care (National Standards) Regulations 2015, the Ministry of Education in conjunction with the Pre-school and Day-Care Centre Council advises that:
  1.     Commencing June, 29th 2020 and ending July 5th, 2020, all pre-schools and day-care centres registered under the Act, are permitted to open for the purpose of sanitation.
  2.     On July 6, 2020, all pre-schools and day-care centres registered under the Act, are permitted to commence the registration of students.
  3.     On July 13, 2020, all pre-schools and day-care centres, registered under the Act, will receive new guidelines for operation.  These will be in accordance with the Covid 19 Guidelines for Pre-schools and Day-care Centres, inclusive of measures provided by the Public Health Authorities and the Environmental Health Sanitation Guidelines.
  4.     On the 16th day of July, 2020, all pre-schools and day-care centres registered under the Act are permitted to re-open.


Persons requiring further information are invited to contact the Pre-School and Day Care Centre Office at 394-4831/2, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m on weekdays. The Guidelines established for the re-opening of private independent pre-schools and day care centres are available for review on the Ministry of Education’s Facebook Page and website – ministryofeducationbahamas.com.
