Nassau, Bahamas - In a formal communication to the House of Assembly today, Wednesday, 29th March, 2017;
Minister of Foreign Affairs & Immigration Fred Mitchell MP conveyed
on behalf of Sir Sidney
Poitier "...his profound thanks to the people of The Bahamas and the
Government of The Bahamas for the tribute paid to him in song, dance and
words on 12 February."
Mr. Mitchell noted that Sir Sidney "...was pleased and honored at
the tribute and wishes me to convey his profound affection for the
country and its people."
Sir Sidney viewed the video of the tribute and was visibly moved when doing so.
