Social Services & Urban Development Celebrates New Year in Church Service

NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Ministry of Social Services and Urban Development marked the New Year in a church service on Monday, 14th January. The event was held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church.  Senior Government Officials from across the government and staff from the Ministry of Social Services and Urban Development attended the event. Also in attendance were the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Hon. K. Peter Turnquest; Minister of Social Services and Urban Development, the Hon. Frankie Campbell; Minister of the Public Service and National Insurance, the Hon. Brensil Rolle; and Minister of State in the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the Hon. Elsworth Johnson.

Assistant Curate at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Reverend Father Donald Kerr, delivered the sermon and President of the Bahamas Christian Council, Apostle Delton Fernander, delivered the prayer for the staff.

Social Services Minister Frankie Campbell delivered brief remarks and introduced the Deputy Prime Minister, who was keynote speaker.

Minister Campbell encouraged the Social Services officers to always put their best effort forward and to always remember the golden rule of ‘Do unto others.’

Deputy Prime Minister Turnquest thanked the officers for their commitment and hard work in assisting the public, and assured them that the government would do its best to ensure that they get what they need to get their work done.

“This is your charge for the beginning of the year: I encourage you to be creative, innovative and to challenge the status quo in order to take the country to the next level,” he said.
