NASSAU, The Bahamas – The toddlers seemed oblivious to the scorching sun as they sang, listened to ‘Once Upon A Time’ stories and played on the courtyard of Willard Patton School as the Department of Education hosted a Literacy Fair, Wednesday, April 18.

The 15th Annual Pre-School Week is being observed. “Let the Children Play” is this year's theme.

Twenty-two government pre-schools and one private pre-school participated in the Literacy Fair.  The day’s activities included a puppet show, music and movement, bingo, gingerbread show and story time.

Andrea Burrows, Chairman of Pre-School Week said each student will receive a book and the objective of the week is to expose the children to reading, letters, words, sounds, which will be achieved through playing.
