CANTO and Huawei Co-host Stakeholder Invitational in Panama

Panama City, Panama - CANTO and Huawei Technologies Panama co-hosted the CANTO Stakeholder Invitational in Panama on May 12th, 2017 at the Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megalopolis. The event was held on the heels of the 134th Board of Directors' meeting.

The CANTO Stakeholder Invitational addressed Operators, Regulators and persons in the ICT sector at a media conference and brunch. The Invitational focused on the association, its activities in Latin America and the Caribbean; Huawei headline sponsorship plus opportunities for partnerships.

Guests were given an overview of CANTO and its major achievements by the Chairman of CANTO, Julian Wilkins; Vice Chair, Rochelle Cameron; Secretary General, Teresa Wankin; and Board Director, Melesia Sutherland. The Commercial Vice President of Huawei Technologies - Panama, Madelin Chinea focused on the CANTO - Huawei headline sponsorship.

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider will support CANTO for the sixth year as a sponsor and the third year as the headline sponsor. In line with Huawei's global strategy of Bridging the Digital Divide, its commitment to be an innovative enabler for the information society and a collaborative industry contributor, Huawei saw the need to continue supporting CANTO on its annual Conference and Trade Exhibition.

Ms Chinea reiterated Huawei's commitment to CANTO by saying "As a cooperative responsible organization Huawei believes in the importance and the creation of alliances with organizations that supports our vision to bridge the digital divide, and promote the harmonious and sustainable development of the economy, the environment, and society."

Ms Chinea also addressed the headline sponsorship of the event and expressed that CANTO's regional conference and expo is pertinent because it provides a platform that allows members to share ideas and views for the future which demonstrates a commitment to improving the ICT sector in the region. She expounded that: " CANTO brings together government and business in the sector to discuss issues and technological innovations in the areas of cloud computing, Big Data and the IoT (Internet of Things) to name a few which will help to connect the lives of more people."

At the event's climax, CANTO raffled an airline ticket among the delegates to attend the 33rd Annual Conference & Trade Exhibition. The ticket was won by Mr. Simon Melindez of Cable & Wireless Panama.

The 33rd Annual Conference & Trade Exhibition (CANTO 2017) will be held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in the Dominican Republic and the 34th Annual Conference &Trade Exhibition (CANTO 2018) will be held in Panama city, Panama.
