At
the conclusion of its Annual Symposium held October 14 – 16, 2015, in Nassau,
Bahamas under the theme “
Partnerships-Performance-Profits:
Keys to Business Successes”, the
Caribbean Institute of Certified Management Consultants (CICMC) reported high
praise from all participants, speakers, hosts and sponsors.
The conference was attended
by members from 12 Caribbean jurisdictions and was headlined by Ministers of
Government, leading businessmen, renowned global consultants and
representatives from multinational donor agencies.
Corporate and other sponsors for the conference included: The Bahamas
Ministry of Finance, Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants, The Bahamas Ministry
of Tourism, Grand Bahama Port Authority, KPMG and Bahamas Telecommunications
Company.
The discussion and
workshop topics included:
●
Engaging Regional Management Consultants
●
Engaging Academia: Preparing Management Consultants
for the Future
●
Developing Successful Indigenous Partnerships
●
How to Leverage Internal and External Expertise, and
●
Building a Winning and Sustainable Management
Consulting Consortium
Consistent
with its conference theme, CICMC sought to focus its membership on the benefits
of synchronizing efforts to improve competitiveness and success. Delegates in turn interactively participated
in informative plenary sessions and workshops, whilst receiving continuous
professional development (CPD) points and networking with professionals from
around the region.
Endorsing
CICMC’s emphasis on the building partnership consortia, the Bahamas’ Minister
of State for Finance, Hon. Michael Halkitis, M.P. in his opening remarks, exhorted
regional consultants to
“build
(partnerships) through excellence and pride”. He also informed conference
attendees that the success of major government
initiatives, Public-Private-Partnership strategic formulation, and the SME
sector, are directly related to the strength, credibility and intellectual
dexterity of management consultants and other professionals.
This was the first time CICMC
has held its conference in The Bahamas and the planning for the event was spearheaded
by CICMC Director and President of the Bahamas Chapter, Donald Demeritte, who
also recently obtained his CMC designation from the CICMC. Donna Smith, Director of the Bahamas Chapter,
chaired the Local Planning Committee.
The next Conference is scheduled to be
held September 7-9, 2016 in St. Lucia.
