Data Protection Commissioner, Sharmie Farrington Austin, travelled to the Cayman Islands, and attended a Cyber Crime Workshop on December 9, 2014. Mrs. Farrington Austin paid a courtesy call on the Acting Information Commissioner of the Cayman Islands, Jan Liebaers on December 10.

The Cyber Crime Workshop was sponsored by Deloitte and provided participants with useful insights and direction regarding an organization’s cyber posture and cyber security trends. Both Commissioner Farrington Austin and Acting Commissioner Liebaers attended this workshop.

During the visit to the Cayman Island’s Information Commissioner’s Office, the Commissioners shared common views on Data Protection and Freedom of Information. The Commissioners welcomed the exchanges, which allow discussion on opportunities to work towards a more cohesive regional information regime within the Caribbean.
