A Sitting of the House of Assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 with Papers to be laid by the Honourable Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Economic Growth, Job Creation, External Affairs and the Public Service, the Honourable Minister for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development, the Honourable Minister for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation, the Honourable Minister for Tourism, Information, Broadcasting, Culture and Creative Industries, the Honourable Minister for Commerce, Industry, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs, and the Honourable Minister for Equity, Social Justice, Local Government and Empowerment.

The Motions for consideration is as follows:

(1)        BE IT RESOLVED that Parliament authorizes the Minister for Finance to borrow by means of advances sums not exceeding fifty-five million dollars from commercial banks, for a period of six months from the date hereof, which sums shall be charged on and paid out of the Consolidated Fund.


(2)         BE IT RESOLVED that Parliament authorizes that Minister for Finance to guarantee a loan in the amount of EC$202,500,000.00 from the Bank of Saint Lucia Limited by the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Port Authority for the purpose of financing the Hewanorra International Airport Redevelopment Project;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that –

    (a) the loan is repayable over a period of twenty years inclusive of a grace period of five years on the principal payments with interest only paid;


    (b) the interest is payable quarterly from the date of the initial disbursement of the loan amount and is payable at a rate of five point five percent per annum during the grace period of five years;

    (c) the interest is payable semi-annually at a rate of up to five percent per annum at the expiry of the grace period of five years;


    (d) a commitment fee of zero point seven five percent is payable on the disbursement of the loan.


(3)         BE IT RESOLVED that Parliament by affirmative resolution approves the draft Value Added Tax (Amendment of Schedule 3) Order which amends Schedule 3 of the Act to exempt the import of goods or services for the Hewanorra International Airport Redevelopment Project for a period of four years and one month commencing from the 1st day of June, 2018 and terminating on the 30th day of June, 2022.

Child (Care, Protection and Adoption) (Amendment) Act

Tuesday’s Sitting is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m.

The Sitting of the Senate is scheduled for Thursday, June 13th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
