GRAND CAYMAN – Cayman’s leading marketing communications company, Tower, is delighted to announce its win of a Silver award in the Magazine Design category of the Caribbean Advertising Federation’s (CAF) ADDY awards, for their innovative design of the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism’s Travel Planner magazine.

Lynne Byles, Director of Tower, says Tower participated in the CAF awards alongside some of the Caribbean’s best names in advertising, which makes the Silver award all the more special.

Mrs Byles gives some background to the awards process.

“Each year the American Advertising Federation (AAF) hosts the advertising industry’s most comprehensive and prestigious competition recognising creative excellence in advertising. The competition is made up of three tiers starting with local competitions such as CAF which includes entries from across the Caribbean,” she said, noting that this year the judges had a record 769 entries submitted by 45 different companies and organisations representing Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, U.S. Virgin Islands, Curacao, Belize, St. Lucia, as well as the Cayman Islands.

Mrs Byles advised that Tower worked on an exciting project designing the 2013 Department of Tourism Travel Planner, a 100-page full colour magazine targeted to the American, Canadian and UK markets for travel to Cayman. “Tower worked closely with the team at the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, and we are honoured to share this win with their talented and dedicated staff” she said.

“After looking at our wide portfolio of projects last year, we decided to enter the Travel Planner into the CAF ADDY awards and we were thrilled to have been awarded Silver in the Magazine Design category,” she said. “The competition judges described the creative work coming from the Caribbean as phenomenal and felt the winning entries were very strong, a testament to the incredible creative talent we have here in the Caribbean.”

Oneisha Richards, Deputy Director, International Marketing, Cayman Islands Department of Tourism said the award was well-earned.

“Tower was able to design a beautifully creative magazine that appealed to our visitors and highlights the many restaurants, activities and accommodations in the Cayman Islands,” she explained. “We were pleased with the quality of the publication and felt it was an extremely useful addition to our tourism collateral, showcasing our first class Caribbean vacation destination. We feel that Tower were greatly deserving of the Silver award.”

Gold in the category was taken by Safari Publications Co. Ltd from Trinidad and Tobago, which produces Belle Weddings magazine.
