Blue Ribbon Film Review Panel Appointed for FLIFF on Location: Grand Bahama Island

Freeport, Bahamas – The Blue Ribbon panel has been appointed to review and select submissions in the high school, college and open categories for the upcoming ‘FLIFF On Location: Grand Bahama Island’, to be held at the Pelican Bay Hotel, Lucaya, October 25th through 28th, 2012.

In addition to independent and studio films made around the world, movies produced in the islands of the Bahamas, as well as those made by Bahamian filmmakers, will be featured prominently at the festival, now in its second year. The five distinguished panelists all reside in Grand Bahama: attorney Willie A. M. Moss; chartered accountant John Swain; stage actor/movie critic Rouen Robinson, and film producers Cornelius McKinney and Sarah Hamilton.  

Willie A. M. Moss is a partner with the firm, Graham Thompson and Co.  She has served as a former deputy chairman of the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation and the Bahamas Mortgage Corporation, chairman of the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board, general counsel, deputy chairman and president of The Grand Bahama Port Authority; and co-patron of the National Breast Cancer Initiative of The Bahamas.

John Swain, president of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant both in the Bahamas and the United States with over sixteen (17) years of public accounting and auditing experience. He also serves as board member for Junior Achievement Grand Bahama and Treasurer.  He is an active leader in his local church and holds a Master Degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.  He is married to the former Norma Cartwright and they have one child.

A published poet, Rouen Robinson is a cinematic critic for Bahama Islands Info, and a member of the Freeport Players’ Guild.  He is also a laboratory technician at Intertek Caleb Brett Testing Services.

Sarah Hamilton has worked in international film and television production for over 15 years, as a production and location manager and also in the underwater camera department. Projects include Casino Royale and Fool's Gold and the German production of 'Der Seewolf'.

Cornelius McKinney is a former banker and education and now production manager of Galaxy Productions.  He has organized movie and Television productions for foreign production filming in the Bahamas, hired crew and local vendors and oversaw the preparation of production budgets and schedules

Visitors and residents alike will be encouraged to come out and enjoy the films and events on offer during the four-day festival. More information about screenings, special events, parties and seminars will be forthcoming as the festival dates approach. FLIFF On-Location: Grand Bahama Island.
