Films made in The Bahamas for FLIFF On Location – Grand Bahama Island

Film Fans will have an opportunity to view a variety of films made by Bahamians in the Bahamas, the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival on Location, scheduled for this weekend.  

A total of twelve films ranging in duration from two minutes to sixty-three minutes have been submitted for viewing all day on Saturday, 29th October, 2011, at Canal House, Pelican Bay Resort.  The locally made films from Nassau and Grand Bahama include:  “Addicted”, “Bui”, “Comin’ over Tonite”, “Jasmines”,  “Knocking Duh Conch Style”, “Politicking In Paradise”, “Salt Cay”, Shakespeare in Lytes”, “Surprise” and “Unashamed”.  Also featured will be the winner of the Grand Bahama Youth Film Competition, “Cyber-Bullying”.

The inaugural FLIFF on Location in Grand Bahama begins on Thursday, 27th October, 2011 with an official opening ceremony that features a special video welcome message from international Film Legend and Oscar Award winning actor Sir Sidney Poitier; and the premiere public showing of “Beneath the Blue”.  The brief ceremony is will be staged in a casual setting on Taino Beach and will commence at 7:00p.m.

“All Movies All Day, All Access and Function Tickets” are now available for the Fort Lauderdale International Festival on location in Grand Bahama, scheduled to take place, Thursday, 27th through Sunday 30th October, 2011.

In addition to two workshops:  Underwater Cinematography and Filmmaking in the Caribbean, more than twenty-five films will be shown over three days during the inaugural FLIFF On Location at the state of the art Canal House, at Pelican Bay Resort.  Two films will be shown free of charge to the public in an outdoor setting at Taino Beach and Count Basie Square.

Celebrated Actors, Directors, Producers and Writers will arrive by sea and air for the weekend event and visitors and residents are encouraged to participate.  All Movies All Day tickets will sell for $7.00, Function tickets for $15.00 and All Access tickets for $50.00 per person.
