Bahamas Celebration cruise ship runs aground off Grand Bahama

The Bahamas Celebration ran aground off Grand Bahama Island on Friday night  at around 9pm on its way to Palm Beach, Florida. There were no reported injuries.

The company said in a public statement on Saturday that passengers aboard the ship were asked to wear life jackets and emergency steps were taken. The ship returned to Freeport and the passengers were placed in accommodations.

The ship is to remain in The Bahamas so the damage can be assessed. Two scheduled cruises for Saturday and Monday were canceled.
