The Gala Dinner Roast and Toast, held in honor of former Member of Parliament, Mr. David Wallace, this past Saturday, May 26th, 2018, was indeed a night of Lambaste, Laud and lots of Laughter!

Approximately two hundred and fifty guests, dressed in fine attire, assembled at The Grand Ball Room of the Grand Lucayan Hotel, to show their love and appreciation for this Bahamian Icon, dubbed The Bahamas’ Host with The Most.

Upon entering the room, the guests were immediately captivated by the beautiful décor done by Mr. Andrew Forbes and his design team of Crème De La Crème. The room was absolutely stunning, adorned in the colors of love; red and white, with a touch of black, highlighted by elegant, tall vases with red roses as the center piece on every table. The décor helped to create the delightful ambience of the evening.

From the beginning to the end, the event was quite enjoyable. The hosts for the evening Mr. Wilbert Stubbs and Ms. Karen Ferguson-Bain kept the guests entertained with their charm and great humor. The Cooling Waters kicked off the evening with a few of David’s favorite songs from their collection, bringing the guest of honor and others in attendance to their feet.

The House Band for the evening was the amazing Little Joe Cartwright and The Trouble Band.

Roasts and Toasts were done by family members of Mr. Wallace, former classmates, former work colleagues and politicians who all swore NOT to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth, providing much laughter for the audience.

There were lots of door prizes and also giveaways to persons in attendance based on questions asked by the hosts, testing how well they knew the guest of honor.

As it was also David’s birthday, everyone sang happy birthday to him and there was a beautiful birthday cake for him to cut.

Of course, being David Wallace, in giving his response at the end of the evening, he had the crowd ‘cracking up’ with jokes of his own. He also spoke about how he tried to get the committee to call off the event (which was initially intended to be a surprise) once he by chance found out about it, but in the end he appreciated the kind gesture and thanked the committee and all those who made the sacrifice to attend.
