CIBC FirstCaribbean opens new innovative Pioneer's Way branch in Freeport

Grand Bahama, Bahamas, 19 January 2021– Grand Bahama is now home to the first of all CIBC FirstCaribbean branches in the country to offer Smart ABM technology.

In addition to other upgrades, the bank’s new, state-of-the-art Pioneer’s Way branch in Freeport features three ultramodern ABM machines and a drive-thru ABM.

With this roll out of new technology comes faster, more efficient cash and cheque related transactions, and an amplified banking experience overall.

For cash-related transactions- with Bahamian currency only- clients will be able to deposit up to 50 bank notes into the machine per transaction without using an envelope, have immediate access to the cash deposited, and receive a detailed printout of the amount deposited when the transaction is completed.

CIBC FirstCaribbean has designed a dynamic space with the client in mind. The Pioneer’s Way branch has a digital banking zone with a dedicated Digital Champion to help clients with all of their online and mobile banking needs

For cheque-related transactions, clients will be able to deposit up to 8 cheques into the machine per transaction without using an envelope, see an on-screen image of cheques deposited, and receive a detailed printout of the amount deposited when the transaction is completed.

At the Pioneer’s Way branch opening, the first client to experience the innovation being provided by CIBC FirstCaribbean and its incredible Freeport team was Ms. Jacqueline Cooper, a client of the bank for over a dozen years.

New and existing clients, like Ms. Cooper, are now able to enjoy more private and comfortable spaces for account openings and discussions about their financial needs. In fact, according to Mrs. Gezel Farrington, CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Director of Retail Banking Channels, the bank has designed a dynamic space with the client in mind.

At the Pioneer’s Way branch opening, the first client to experience the even greater service provided by the CIBC FirstCaribbean Freeport team was Ms. Jacqueline Cooper, a client of the bank for over a dozen years. “We are so excited to introduce the simplified and modern banking experience that ABM technology and new teller transaction technology presents to our clients. The Pioneer’s Way branch allows persons to conduct business in a timely and efficient manner and makes it possible to conveniently do banking without even having to come inside the branch,” she said.

“CIBC FirstCaribbean encourages its clients to use its ABM machines and Online and Mobile banking channels where possible. However, the Pioneer’s Way branch also has a digital banking zone with a dedicated Digital Champion to help clients with all of their online and mobile banking needs.”

With five ABMs in total, the brand new Freeport branch features two night deposits, including a drive-thru night deposit machine that allows business clients to make their deposits safely without exiting their vehicle.

For clients that do have to come in, however, CIBC FirstCaribbean’s staff remains available in-branch.

The Freeport branch relocated from its East Mall site to the new Pioneer’s Way location, which is across from the Port Authority building, on January 12th. Its telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, and operating hours remain the same.
