Freeport, Grand Bahama –Executives of the Grand Bahama Port Authority were invited to tour the manufacturing facilities of Caribbean Tobacco Enterprises (CTE).

Guiding GBPA’s executive team throughout the facilities, was CTE’s Managing Director, Stunce Williams. “We’ve been manufacturing and distributing our Palms, Palms Menthol and Palms Lights cigarettes for about six weeks now. We wanted to ensure that our operations were tight and that our products were properly market tested before officially launching, and I think we’ve ended up with a strong operations plan and an excellent product line”, said Williams.

GBPA President, Ian Rolle, commended CTE for its courage in establishing a new industry in the Bahamas and selecting Grand Bahama as its base of operations. “I am quite impressed with what I’ve seen so far from CTE. They took their time before opening their doors and it shows in the end results of what we’ve seen here today. I’m delighted that they chose Freeport as their production base.”

They represent a business model that can be applied across several industries. There are many benefits affordedinvestors in Freeport. Whether it be tax concessions or access to our world-class container port for international distribution, Freeport provides all the vital components for a successful assembly or value addition business.”

Managing Director Williams also commented on CTE’s distribution. “Our products have already been placed in several points of purchase locations and we’re continuing to engage key distributors to take on our Palms product lines. We want to ensure maximum awareness and visibility to Bahamians and Tourists, in hopes that our tobacco products, made right here in The Bahamas, become a staple.”
