Freeport, Bahamas - Members of the Executive team for the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled accepted a cheque that is the first of 12 for the year as a part of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited’s (GBPA) pledge of monthly donations toward this vital non-profit organization.

GBPA President, Mr. Ian Rolle presented the cheque on behalf of GBPA to the Council for the Disabled during a brief exchange held in front of ‘The Pink Building’ and proclaimed the company’s continued support towards the council. “The Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled’s program is so very important in helping these great people who have disabilities. Activities through this program allow members to gain exposure that may not have other wise been possible. Time and time again we’ve witnessed these programmes aid in the growth of the participants’ self-esteem, become more self sufficient and more productive members of society. It is with pleasure that The Grand Bahama Port Authority continues to support the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled as this is a necessary programme.”

Clotilda Johnson, President of The Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled, accepted the cheque on the Council’s behalf. “This cheque donated by The Port Authority will be put to great use and will be used to support many of our existing programs. Thank you.” The mission of the Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled is to provide opportunities to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities through the establishment of educational, training, vocational and social programmes.

GBPA along with the Northern Council for the Disabled wishes to advise and encourage all those who are disabled on Grand Bahama Island to register and join this organization.

Persons who join the Council receive support, education, fellowship, and come together to work as a group to find solutions for individual and community challenges. If you would like to register with the Council please call their office, located at 11A Kipling Building at 242.352.7720, where a member of the council is ready to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.
