Freeport, Grand Bahama - The Caribbean Electric Utility Service Corporation (CARILEC) and Grand Bahama Power Company are pleased to announce plans for the 2009 Human Resource & Training Professionals Conference, set for October 8 and 9, at The Radisson at Our Lucaya & Golf Resort, Grand Bahama.

Guided by this year's theme, "Expanding The Influence of HR on Business Performance," we wish to invite participants to be challenged and inspired by presentations, planned dialogue sessions, panel and plenary discussions. Local and visiting professionals from some 15 countries around the Caribbean will learn how to manage challenges and opportunities, and discover world-class leadership best practices to build leadership strength in their respective organizations.

Among the conference topics that will be addressed are Talent Management, HRM, Performance Management and its effect on the bottom line, and Workforce Management and Teambuilding.

CARILEC is an Association of Caribbean Electric Utilities comprising of thirty-three (33) regional utilities and sixty-four (64) associate/affiliate members who are mainly their vending partners, consultants, and universities.  Our association started back in 1989, and this year celebrates 20 years of services to its members. We seek to be the premier Association of Electric Utilities and Industry Partners facilitating the development of world class electric energy services in the Caribbean.

We believe that Human Resource professionals from other companies in The Bahamas may benefit from this conference and invite interested Training Officers, Middle Managers and Supervisors to make contact with our Grand Bahama Power HR Offices for registration information.

The Conference will be officially opened by the Honourable Phenton Neymour,  Minister Of State For The Environment, on Thursday, October 8. Grand Bahama Island last played host to this conference back in 2002, when Industrial Safety was the focus.

Visiting delegates, including CARILEC's Executive Director, Mr. Nigel Hosein, Business Development Coordinator, Ms. Alison Pascal, and Marubeni Taqa Caribbean Director, Dr. Karla Drenner, are expected on island as early as Monday, October 5.
