RBDF Rangers Band perform in Rhode Island, USA

Coral Harbour Base (RBDF):  Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Ranger Band participated in the United States' oldest Independence Parade in Bristol, Rhode Island this Fourth of July. The Ranger Band has a complement of 50 members led by Chief Petty Officer Ezrum Lewis. The Band is accompanied by Lieutenant Edward Fritz, Director of the Defence Force Ranger Programme, six Ranger instructors, 21 parents and a Defence Force Public Relations representative.

The Defence Force Ranger Band is a part of the Defence Force's Ranger Youth Programme, which has some 1,200 members from over 30 high schools in New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco.  Captain Tellis Bethel, Acting Commander of the Royal Bahamas Defence expresses his appreciation on behalf of the members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the members of the Rangers Youth Programme to Major General Kevin McBride, the Adjutant General of Rhode Island, and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard (Retired), and the Members of the Rhode Island National Guard for their assistance in making this event possible. On behalf of the Hon. Minister of National Security, Minister Bernard Nottage, the members of the Defence Force and himself, Captain Bethel also congratulates the leaders and team members of the Ranger Band, the Ranger Band members and parents for the outstanding accomplishment they had made in preparing for this historic occasion. "They have made The Bahamas Proud.”
