Tropical storm watch remains in effect for Saint Lucia

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Saint Lucia by the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services due to the formation of Tropical Storm Don and Advisories on the system are continuing.

At 8.00 a.m. today the center of TROPICAL STORM DON was located near Latitude 11.4 Degrees North, Longitude 57.0 Degrees West or about 281 miles (or 452 kilometers) East-South-East of Saint Lucia with maximum sustained wind of 50 mph (or 85 kph). Little change in strength is expected before the system reaches the Windward Islands. Tropical Storm force winds extend about 35 miles from its center.

TS Don is moving westward (280 degrees) at 18 mph (or 30 kph) and is expected to continue this general motion with the center forecasted to pass south of Grenada tonight.

Residents are asked to closely monitor the progress of this storm and pay attention to the advisories issued by the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services and NEMO.

Marine operators venturing away from port, as well as sea bathers are advised to exercise due caution.

The next Advisory will be issued by the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services at 11.00 a.m. today.
