Nassau, Bahamas - Cell phones have certain glamour and appeal but the landline, not so much. But with the introduction of HomePhonePlus, the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) new, ‘love your landline’ low price packages, home phones have taken on a new lease of life.

Marlon Johnson Sr. VP Marketing and Communication said that the HomePhonePlus addition to the BTC landline service is proving transformative for customers who stay in touch with family and friends living abroad or in the Family Islands and that sales figures have to date far exceed projections.

“We are surpassing our sales targets as people realize that this is the best value in town for nation-wide domestic, and long distance calls to the USA, UK and Canada. We offer value and a clearer connection while staying in touch with family and friends throughout the family islands and abroad.

“We’re not talking long distance using an internet connection,” said the VP. “In fact the key newsworthy element is that this is the first long distance product offered by a major telecoms player that goes directly over the legacy exchange infrastructure and does not need internet connectivity, so customers get a very pure, top carrier-grade connection. And apart from the speedy connection and voice clarity the service stays ‘on’ even when the lights go off.”

The senior vice president said that the BTC landline service with a full suite of 18 CLASS features has always been one of their best products and now they’ve added to that, a value for money, long distance calling feature to BTC fixed lines for select countries and throughout The Bahamas, which makes for an exciting new product offering.

“We took this already excellent service and spiced it up to meet all calling needs, both local and international and produced 3 different packages to suit differing needs and priced it accordingly to include the line rental,” said the VP.

The three packages are currently available to BTC existing landline customers and to new subscribers. Calls to Cable Bahamas numbers are charged at the standard rate and not included in package rates. The HomePhoneTalk 300 package for $21.99 monthly allows 300 minutes to call anyone, anytime in the USA, UK and Canada, and other BTC telephone numbers throughout The Bahamas; theUnlimited Nights and Weekends package for $28.99 monthly is for 1,500 minutes to use between 7 pm and 7 amevery night to the same destinations andthe HomePhone Unlimited Anytime packagefor $34.99 monthly is for 1,500 minutes to call anyone, 24/7, again to the same destinations. If customers need or use more than theirpackage deal minutes they can check the, ‘out of bundle rates’ at www.btcbahamas/homephone to know what the extra cost will be. HomePhonePlus is available now by calling 225 2582 or logging on to www.btcbahamas.com.

The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) is the leading telecoms operator in The Bahamas. BTC is jointly owned by Cable & Wireless Communications (51%) and the Government of The Bahamas (49%). Cable & Wireless Communications has both management and Board control.
