"She went to prom in an ambulance and woke up after she got kissed by prince charming lol" wrote CaptainPajamas as he posted these photos to his twitter account

An Abaco, Bahamas prom entrance last weekend made by high school senior Ashvonn Russell, who arrived in an ambulance has gone viral on social media and is being featured in the prominent online publication Buzzfeed. It was also picked up by the women's magazine, Cosmopolitan.  The photos hit the internet after being posted by @CaptainPajamas on Twitter on June 14th.

Russell arrived in the ambulance, whereupon the back doors were opened and she exits the vehicle laid out on a stretcher in attire and makeup for her prom. Her date, Johnny Auguste kisses her on the cheek in the style of Prince Charming in Sleeping Beauty, and she awakes and they enter the dance.

The stunt has been met with major criticisms online, and The Tribune has reported that one employee of the Public Hospitals Authority has been suspended.

“The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) finds it despicable that an ambulance under the management of the Authority was used in the execution of a prom event in Marsh Harbour, Abaco at the weekend. The use of the ambulance is in direct contravention of the rules regarding the dispatching and use of emergency vehicles which should be dispatched solely for the purpose of medical transport,” said a statement made by PHA.

On a lighter note, local comedian Sawyer Boy has done a parody video on the entrance, and at time of this posting, it had garnered over 47,000 views on Facebook (SawyerBoy TV). It can be viewed on Youtube here.

“My hope for this theme was genuinely and solely to win best entrance by my unique style of entry and not for some of the negative attention and exposure it has received," said Ashvonn Russell who is an artist.  "For all the people of my great nation and around the world that I have offended, I apologize. It was not my intention to offend anyone.”

It has not yet been revealed who won the 'best entrance' at the dance, a contest said to be put on by the Key Club, but this particular entrance will not soon be forgotten.
