Nassau, Bahamas– She may be small in stature, but Top Model of the Bahamas Chrystal Bethel is walking tall as she heads to Berlin, Germany for one of the modeling industry’s most exciting events.    Chrystal will be among the 40 contestants competing in The Top Model of the World competition.   Miss Bethell, who captured the local title during one of the 2008 Miss Bahamas World pageant’s Preliminary Events, hopes to strut her way to a title and lucrative modeling contract.

Since capturing her title last June, Chrystal’s modeling career has sky rocketed.   She is the featured model in several BTC ads, and has also done some modeling for Commonwealth Bank.  Additionally, she has appeared on Tempo Television as a guest VJ and has graced the runway in a number of local fashion shows. Later this summer, she will appear as host of an exciting game show called the BTC Challenge, which was produced in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism’s Careers Unit.    However, it’s her forthcoming trip to Germany that excites her most. “I’m looking forward to the cultural mix, as well as seeing all of the historic sites of Germany,” she says on the eve of her departure on March 26th.   In addition to her stint in Berlin, Chrystal will also visit Dresden where she and her fellow contestants will be treated to a sightseeing tour. The Top Model of the World finale will be held on April 4th.

The Top Model of the World competition began in 1993 in Miami.   Since then, it has grown to become one of the leading modeling competitions in the world.   Its past winners have gone on to great success on first class runways the world over.   Chrystal’s predecessors in the competition have also done well.   Miss Bahamas World 2006 Deandrea Conliffe was among the Top 15 finalists in the 2007 Top Model competition, and while not making the finals, Camille Kenny gave a strong showing in the 2008 competition.   Chrystal is very optimistic as she prepares to continue the trend. She says she has a positive outlook on the competition, and hopes to win.

Upon her return from Germany, Chrystal won’t have much time before she has to jump on a plane again – this time to China where she will participate in a Beauty and Model festival sponsored by the organizers of the Beauty of the World pageant in late April. However, she’s not complaining about her jet setting lifestyle.   “Since capturing my titles during last year’s Miss Bahamas World pageant, it’s been one opportunity after another,” she says, “and I’m taking full advantage of every single one of them!”
