Dominican Poachers apprehended in Joint Operation

Coral Harbour Base, (RBDF) - The Royal Bahamas Defence Force vessel HMBS CASCARILLA assisted by US Coast Guard vessel MARGARET NORVELL apprehended a 76-ft Dominican vessel in the Cochinos Banks for poaching on Wednesday 13 November at 12:24 am.

At 12:24 am November 13, seventeen Dominican fishermen along with a large quantity of fishery products were taken into custody and are presently being escorted to the capital.

In 2018, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force was successful in apprehending a total of 190 Dominican poachers along with 4 Dominican fishing vessels and 5 small go-fast type boats with over 100,000 pounds of fisheries products.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force continues to remain vigilant in protecting the territorial waters and marine resources of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
