Nassau, Bahamas - Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Perry Christie along with Minister of the Environment and Housing, Hon. Kenred Dorsett and Executive Chairman of the Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority, Sen. Greg Burrows were all attended the graduation ceremony of the first crop of lifeguard trained by the Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority.

These twelve young people received 25 hours of training in such things as swimming and CPR.  Training for the lifeguards will continue on a monthly basis.

It is expected that lifeguards will be stationed on public beaches around New Providence to begin with before the Programme branches out to the Family Islands.

After the short ceremony the lifeguard conducted a life saving drill for those in attendance.
