Coral Harbour Base, (RBDF) - A total of 60 undocumented Haitian migrants are on the way to the capital after they were apprehended aboard a 40-ft. Haitian sailing sloop off Long Island earlier today during a joint effort by members of Royal Bahamas Defence Force and Police Force and local fishermen.

After receiving information of the sighting of a Haitian vessel, HMBS CASCARILLA under the command of Senior Lieutenant Samantha Hart was dispatched to the area to investigate. The Haitian vessel was spotted approximately 16 nautical miles west of Deadman's Cay.

The migrants were taken aboard the Defence Force vessel where they will be handed over to the relevant authorities.
