Defence Headquarters, (RBDF): The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is pleased to report that the injuries received by crewmembers of HMBS CASCARILLA yesterday are non-life threatening. Four (4) of the five (5) persons airlifted for medical care yesterday have been discharged. One person has been admitted. That Marine is expected to make a full recovery, receiving medical care and remains in stable condition.
The vessel has sustained no material damage and remains in operational readiness within the theater of operations. Initial investigations are ongoing and a formal Board of Inquiry will be convened to determine the circumstances involved.
The Force continues to participate in training opportunities and execute drills that allow for effective responses that preserves life and safety of its people during its diverse and varied operations. We are grateful to the public for its expressions of gratitude and concern.
