Alert #5 issued by the Bahamas Department of Meteorology,

A tropical storm warning is now in effect for the Southeast Bahamas and
The Turks and Caicos Islands, which would include the islands of Inagua,
Mayaguana, Crooke Island, acklins and ragged island.

A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are likely in
the mentioned islands within 36 hours.

At 11:00 p.m. the center of Emily was located near latitude 16.2 degrees
north and longitude 66.7 degrees west or about 125 miles south of Ponce,
Puerto Rico or 430 miles southeast of Turks and Caicos Islands and 495
miles southeast of Great Inagua.

Emily is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph. A turn to the
northwest is expected during the next 24 to 48 hours. On its present track
the center of Emily is expected to move across Hispaniola late Wednesday
and into the Southeastern Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands on
Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 50 miles per hour with higher
gusts. Some strengthening is possible before the center reaches
Hispaniola with weakening expected as it moves over the high terrain of
that island.

Tropical storm winds extend outward up to 120 miles mainly to the north
and east of the center.

Residents in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Inagua, Mayaguana, Crooked
Island, Acklins and Ragged Island should closely monitor the progress of
this storm and ensure that all pre-season precautions have been taken.

Small craft operators in the mentioned islands should also monitor the
