Applications are invited from suitably qualified professionals for appointment to the post of
Registrar / Curatorial Assistant
of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas. The NAGB is an independent
quasi-governmental corporation. Hired persons are employees of the Board
and work on fixed-term independent contracts. No pension or health care
is provided.
Applicants
must have a knowledge of Bahamian art history and be capable in
record-keeping, numbering and cataloguing; applicant would perform the
combined functions of registrar and curatorial assistant. Research and
library skills are also highly desirable.
Qualifications:
A four-year tertiary degree (BA) or equivalent professional
qualification in Art History, Museum Studies or related area.
Experience: Two years of experience working in a museum or related cultural institution.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
• Registering and cataloguing the National Collection both manually and digitally;
• Assisting in installation of exhibitions and planning of shows;
• Supervision of the Art Library’s cataloguing systems;
• Monitoring of works on loan to the Gallery or loaned to travelling exhibitions.
