New Providence, Bahamas – It was a day of fun in the sun for the families of Bahamas Waste as the company transformed the grounds of their Gladstone Road headquarters into a massive playground complete with face painting, bouncing castles, and live music.

“One of the things we pride ourselves on is being able to give back to our employees and by extension, their families as well,” said Bahamas Waste Operations Manager, Ethelyn Davis. “Our staff has been working extremely hard this year, with lots of additional work due to the numerous storms.  We know how difficult it can be for parents to find a wholesome, safe environment for children to enjoy themselves, so we wanted to create one. The holidays are a busy time for our staff and so we are having our annual party at this time, so we can show our appreciation for everything that they do all year round.”

Staff and spouses took advantage of the fun opportunity on Saturday, bringing their young children to Bahamas Waste Fun Day and BBQ.

“I really enjoyed it” said Teron Ellis an 8 year employee with the company’s vehicle maintenance department. “Events like this really make it feel like more of a family environment and not just a job you come to everyday and you can tell by the increased turnout, that more members of the team are excited to support the idea” he said.

The staff’s fun day also provided staff and management with the unique opportunity to interact with one another in a less formal setting.

“Our employees are without question some of the most amazing people, and we are lucky to have them on board at the company” said event organizer and BW HR Manager, Ernestine Lloyd, “this was an opportunity for us to say thank you for all their hard work and to have a day with no deadlines, no early morning shifts and no work for them!”
