Brides-to-be lip-sing to their grooms-to-be for prizes, a groom went shopping for his bride, everyone tasted wedding cake and champagne, but over $30,000 worth of prizes took the cake during the 28thannual Bahamas Bridal Show recently held at Melia Nassau Beach Hotel.

Leading the parade of prizes was Arawak Homes’ $15,000 discount toward the purchase of a new home for couple. Added to the collection of prizes were two decorative table lamps from Furniture Plus and bedding from Carmetta’s Closet.

On the heels of these wonderful gifts was the show’s grand prize that went to Urshala Johnson and Een Pennerman, inclusive of the following:

·7-day honeymoon stay to Orlando, Florida

·Two round-trip airline tickets from Bahamasair

·Bridal gown and tuxedo from Buttons Bridal & Formal Wear

·$800 worth of invitations by Template

·Engagement photo session by Digital Café Photography

·Cases of champagne from Liquid Courage and Bristol Wines & Spirits

·Bride & groom t-shirts from Classy Loft

·Wedding planning discount by De Ja Wedding Specialist

Some of the new games and ideas introduced this year at the show were “Lip-Singing,” where a bride serenades to her groom-to-be; “Gone Shopping” where a groom attempted to select the correct prices for bridal items; and the creation of “Why I Deserve to Win a Honeymoon” video where winner Daron Beneby received a honeymoon stay at Hope Town Harbor Lodge, Abaco.

Among the 47 exhibitors on March 13th show were British Colonial Hilton, Paradise Island Beach Club and Melia Nassau Beach Hotel that presented honeymoon stays. Atlantis Resort and Pearl Island Bahamas also generously offered honeymoon stays to the event and AID gave a $200 shopping spree.

“We were very pleased by the number and quality of gifts provided by all of the businesses that participated,” an excited show Nicole Henderson-Smith. “We were giving away gifts for over an hour, almost non-stop. I was so excited for the couples.”

Nicole, who has been a part of the bridal show since age 16, received a surprise of her life when show organizers presented her with a week-long vacation to Las Vegas, Nevada.

“This was only a small token of appreciation to Nicole for her dedication, talent and professional services to the bridal show for over two decades,” says Tommy Stubbs, the show’s executive producer.“On behalf of the exhibitors, we wanted to express our gratitude to Nicole for her sacrifices and love for the show. She has given so much to the success of this annual event.”

“Those who missed the actual show will get a chance to see the fashion show when the television production of the show is shown in the next few weeks,” says show coordinator and choreographer Makeva Wallace. “Our models performed beyond my expectation and I, too, cannot wait to see the video presentation.”
