Luxury Meets Technology to Drive Bahamas Tourism

Nassau, Bahamas - Baha Mar, the newest and largest single-phase resort in the Western Hemisphere has partnered with premiere telecoms provider, The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) to deliver seamless and uninterrupted mobile connection for their guests with the installation of a multi-million dollar Distributed Antenna System (DAS) throughout the entire property.

Executives of both companies inked the five-year exclusive contract on 21st August 2014 where BTC will be the provider of the sophisticated telecommunications services that will deliver 2G, 3G, CDMA and LTE coverage property-wide throughout the floors, inclusive of elevators, basements, the Convention Centre and the Golf Clubhouse, of the luxury property.

Leon Williams, newly appointed CEO of BTC said, “This partnership is more than connectivity, it demonstrates BTC’s commitment to the national development and the economic advancement of The Bahamas. Baha Mar is one of the leading luxury resorts in the Caribbean and one of our goals at BTC is to deliver first-world technology that will satisfy the needs of visitors who desire un-interrupted connectivity even while basking on Baha Mar beaches.”

Baha Mar’s President Tom Dunlap said, “Baha Mar is pleased to have BTC provide their extensive telecommunications services to the property. We are looking forward to the many applications that this partnership will bring in the years to come.” Gershan Major, BTC’s Vice President of Corporate Sales & Business Development noted that BTC has been collaborating with Baha Mar for the past year to tailor the DAS infrastructure design to meet the specific needs of the four-hotel property guests who will occupy the over 2,300 rooms and 300 residences.
