A’keilah Munroe celebrated her second birthday at Ardastra Gardens.

When Trica Musgrove went in search of a venue to host her daughter’s second birthday party she wanted a place that was far from the usual.

"For her special day I wanted a setting that went beyond the ordinary. A'keilah had never visited the zoo before and with its built-in entertainment, the flamingos and the other animals, I knew entertaining the children would be a breeze," said Ms Musgrove.

Whether it’s a child’s birthday party, a wedding, cocktail reception or product launch, Ardastra Gardens provides a unique backdrop for those celebrating a special occasion.

“Now that temperatures are relatively mild, this is the perfect time of year to have events outside where you can enjoy great weather and scenic surroundings. We literally offer an oasis in the middle of a zoo,” said Jeffrey Nash, Ardastra’s general manager.

“By choosing Ardastra as the venue for your next event you are helping to fund the zoo and our rescue and rehab programs.”

Ardastra is not your typical function space. A special place many know from their childhood, the conservation center is a playground where almost any festive idea or social event is possible amidst its four acres of lush tropical gardens, home to a small but well-tended collection of birds, reptiles and mammals.

“Ardastra has been around since 1937. We’ve hosted events from formal to fun so we’re more than capable of accommodating almost every need. As a venue, Ardastra is home to unbridled possibilities,” said Mr Nash.

From summer and Christmas camps, to movie nights and story-time for toddlers, Ardastra’s very name encapsulates its goal to deliver a first-rate experience when hosting events. Taken from the Latin words ‘ardua’ and ‘astra’ its moniker literally means to “strive for the stars.”

A natural paradise, the venue scores top marks with event and party planners for its central location, ambiance and its ability to bring wildlife to an event.

“It is the perfect place to gather for a large corporate event or for a night out with family and friends. Events can be held under the pavilion or under the stars,” said Mr Nash. “The secret garden provides an enchanting backdrop for guests to mix and mingle during more intimate affairs.”

Ardastra offers daytime and evening bookings with the option to reserve an area of the zoo.
