NAD Manager Jonathan Hanna wins 1st ‘Young Airport Professional’ ACI-LAC Award

Nassau, Bahamas - This fall, Airports Council International Latin American-Caribbean (ACI-LCA) announced Jonathan Hanna, Manager of Airport Solutions at Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD) as the first recipient of its Young Airport Professional award. On Tuesday, November 13th, Hanna attended the ACI-LAC Annual Assembly in Miami, FL where he accepted the award recognizing outstanding young talent in the airport and aviation industry.  

ACI Latin-America Caribbean represents the interests of the airport operators from the Latin American and the Caribbean Region. Currently, ACI-LAC has 65 members, operating over 270 airports including Lynden Pindling International Airport.

Javier Martinez Botacio, Director General of ACI-LAC extended congratulations to Jonathan on the achievement. “This award serves to honour and recognize the young and outstanding talent in the Latin American and Caribbean airport industry,” Botacio said.

“Mr. Hanna's research paper on innovative approaches for maximizing airport commercial revenues was chosen by the panel of judges as the research paper with the highest score.”

Hanna officially joined the airport management company as a Duty Supervisor in May 2014. In his current role as Manager of Airport Solutions, he is responsible for maintaining airport certifications, ensuring regulatory compliance with the Bahamas Aviation Safety Regulations Schedule and identifying staff training needs to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.

Vernice Walkine, President & CEO at NAD commended Hanna for being the first of his regional peers to receive the recognition from ACI-LCA. “We are very proud of the work that Jonathan does as a member of our management team here at LPIA. He is passionate about the aviation industry and has demonstrated his ability to focus on providing innovative solutions to our overall operations. We congratulate him on this achievement.”

A graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology, Hanna earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and a Master of Science in Airport Development & Management.  He obtained his Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) Dispatcher’s License in August 2014 and holds ACI certifications in Airport Emergency Planning and Apron Management. 

In addition to his focus on aviation regulation and compliance, Hanna recently spearheaded the implementation of a mentorship program for high school students interested in the field of aviation.
