Kanoo in Super Value

Nassau, Bahamas - Customers of the largest grocer, Super Value Quality Supermarkets, will be able to transact by phone via the country’s newest digital wallet, Kanoo. The Kanoo platform has been more than two years in the making and will soon be available in all Super Value locations throughout New Providence.

The company’s CEO, Keith Davies, says by “connecting merchants with consumers, Kanoo has been able to fulfill its vision of making life easier for Bahamians,” which he believes is critical for the country.

“Our beautiful county continues to recover and rebuild following the devastation Hurricane Dorian has left behind. Kanoo knows digital cash solutions on your phone can keep people connected to their funds in times of need. This insight has allowed our company to truly reflect on the meaning of our philosophy “Power to Prosper” during this time.”

“We recognize that no two people live their lives at the same pace, therefore, to deliver on our brand promise, we will ensure that Bahamians are always empowered to handle money at the speed of life.

“As consumers ourselves, we know that speed and efficiency are key to having a good shopping experience, and we are confident that we will deliver on our promise.”

Mr. Davies added that “Being in all Super Value stores allows us to interact with most residents, creating an opportunity for us to improve their lives instantly. Consumers can benefit from exclusive deals, discounts, and coupons from Super Value and other merchants when paying for goods and services with our app.”

Kanoo, a licensee of the Central Bank of The Bahamas and the Grand Bahama Port Authority, facilitates digital payments throughout The Bahamas.

President of Super Value Quality Supermarkets Rupert Roberts shared his thoughts on having Kanoo’s services in all stores.

“We’re proud to be the first to offer phone cash in our stores. We like the fact that it’s a time-saving solution for our customers. We believe that having Kanoo as a payment option enhances the Super Value Quality Supermarkets’ shopping experience.”

Excited to launch Kanoo in Super Value Quality Supermarkets, Mr. Davies is also looking forward to expanding the company’s network of merchants and agents throughout the archipelago.

Mr. Davies concluded, “We’ve put much effort into creating an application that we truly believe will benefit the country. So, I invite people to tell us the places that they shop and merchants that they frequent. It’s all about enriching the lives of Bahamians in the long run.”

To date, the Kanoo team has installed signs and devices in all stores and trained more than 200 cashiers in preparation for this launch.

Currently, scores of users and small to medium-sized merchants are participating in Kanoo’s beta test.

Kanoo plans to introduce its products and services to the Bahamian marketplace in a systematic, phased approach to ensure that we become the ‘go-to’ digital wallet option for The Bahamas.
