The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) was recently elected as a member of the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative, joining over 650 leading business and management schools from more than 80 countries.

Launched at the 2007 United Nations Global Compact Leaders’ Summit in Geneva, the PRME initiative is the largest organized relationship between the United Nations and business schools. Its mission is to inspire and support responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally. It also seeks to establish a process of continuous improvement among institutions of management education in order to develop a new generation of business leaders capable of managing the intricate challenges faced by businesses and society in the 21st century.

The principles provide an engagement framework for academic institutions to advance corporate sustainability and social responsibility through the incorporation of universal values into curricula and research. These principles include: Purpose, Values, Method, Research, Partnership and Dialogue.

As a member of the PRME initiative, BTVI is a part of an international group of institutions in the commitment to encourage social responsibility in the creation of a sustainable global economy.

“We have made a powerful commitment to advancing values such as sustainability, responsibility, and ethics in teaching, research and thought leadership. We are delighted to join such a prestigious global effort,” stated BTVI President, Dr. Robert W. Robertson.
