Coral Harbour Base, (RBDF): Members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force continue to assist families during this CoViD-19 pandemic with financial contributions during the past week.

As the members of Entry 24 celebrated 31 years of service on the Defence Force, current and past members of that squad saw it fitting to observe this occasion by assisting over 20 families with gift certificates. With the assistance of Chief Welfare Officer for Social Services, Mrs. Michelle Collie, the team of Officers and Marines distributed food vouchers valued from $110 to $220 each to families throughout the areas of Baintown, Chippingham, Carmichael, Englerston and Eastern New Providence.

Commander Chapell Whyms, spokesperson for Entry 24 echoed the kind gestures on behlf of Commander Defence Force, Commodore Raymond King and the Officers and Marines.

“We thought we’d take another route in celebrating our anniversary this year, seeing the need for assistance in our community is great”, said Commander Whyms. “Although it’s a small gesture, we are glad that we can uplift the spirits of individuals during this trying period”.

The men of Entry 24 enlisted on the Royal Bahamas Defence Force on 8th May, 1989, of which there are currently 35 serving members.
