RBDF assists in Search and Rescue Mission for Missing Boaters off Berry Islands

Defence Headquarters, (RBDF) - An ongoing search and rescue mission is underway by members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Search and Rescue Unit, the Royal Bahamas Police Marine Division, BASRA and United States Coast Guard, for an overdue vessel with several individuals onboard.

The 29-ft Mako vessel departed Freeport, Grand Bahama with 8 - 10 occupants and was last seen leaving Bimini on Tuesday morning, and was enroute to Florida, USA.  Aerial and maritime searches along the coast lines, ocean waters, nearby cays and reefs is currently being conducted without success thus far. Community persons have also taken part in the search and are encouraged to keep their eyes open for the vessel.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force remains committed in the search for the craft and its occupants.
