The Restructuring and Insolvency Specialists Association (Bahamas) (“RISA Bahamas”) has been formed as a local professional body for those practicing restructuring and insolvency. A principle focus of the organization will be on professional education and training.

On 25 January 2017, RISA Bahamas was ratified as a member association of the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals (“INSOL”) which will aid in promoting the profile, reputation and capabilities of The Bahamas as a jurisdiction that is well versed in restructuring and insolvency matters. INSOL is a world-wide federation of national associations for accountants and attorneys who specialize in turnaround, restructuring and insolvency and has over 10,000 members globally.

RISA Bahamas will hold an official launch event in early 2018 and hopes to join the ranks of similar associations in neighboring countries such as Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.

Pictured below are the founding directors of RISA Bahamas, Zelma Wilson of KPMG, Sophia Rolle-Kapousouzoglou of Lennox Paton, and Igal Wizman of Ernst & Young.
