Nassau, The Bahamas -  The fittest man in The Bahamas joined 143-athletes from around the world to compete in the Reebok CrossFit Games held in Madison, Wisconsin.

David Morley, a certified personal trainer and accomplished CrossFit athlete was the first Bahamian to participate in the 13th annual Reebok Cross Fit Games held in the United States from August 1st- 4th, 2019.  Morley reflected on his experience as amazing and recognized the importance of family, friends and sponsors who made it all possible for him to compete.  He said “In terms of the overall experience and my first time competing on the CrossFit global stage, it was amazing.  The calibre of athletes and the adrenaline of demonstrating my strength in the presence of family, friends and supporters watching from around the world was incredible.”

CrossFit is promoted as both a physical exercise philosophy and a competitive fitness sport, incorporating elements from high-intensity interval training, Olympic weightlifting, plyometrics, powerlifting, gymnastics, girevoy sport, calisthenics, strongman, and other exercises.  Morley is committed to leading a holistic and healthy lifestyle.  He noted, “The intensity of the CrossFit inspires me as an individual to be the best version of myself through my diet, my choices, my workout routine and even my thoughts and actions.”

The CrossFit athlete acknowledged that local sponsors significantly contributed to his involvement at the event in Madison, Wisconsin, which is dubbed the Fittest City in the world.  Morley said, “With funding and resources provided by Sun Oil Limited, I was able to travel to Wisconsin and represent The Bahamas.  Their willingness to contribute to my journey demonstrates to me that there are Bahamian owned businesses who support Bahamians in pursuit of their passions to excel locally and internationally.”

Rufus Johnson Jr., Marketing Manager for Sun Oil Limited congratulated Morley on his accomplishments.  Johnson noted, “At Sun Oil, we are consistently investing in Bahamians who reflect the best of The Bahamas.  We were pleased that through our support, David was able to represent The Bahamas and perform admirably during the CrossFit competition.  Our investment in his efforts reflects our on-going commitment to fuelling journeys that matter.  Through these journeys, we hope that Davis and others like him will inspire and motivate more Bahamians to lead healthy lifestyles through physical activity and other wellness efforts.”

Morley remains disciplined as he fuels his commitment for wellness and competitive achievements through CrossFit.  Morley expressed, “Even though the CrossFit Games have ended, I am already back in the gym, focused, disciplined and training harder.  My current goal is to prepare for CrossFit qualifiers in October to demonstrate my skills and passions for constantly growing to perform better.”
