After two weeks working together to develop big ideas for the Caribbean, the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) Pivot Event closes with the reveal of nine moonshots for the future of the region – with input from the four Bahamians selected as a part of the team leading the idea series.

On Friday October 30th at 9am (EDT), Our Manifesto of Moonshots will be presented via zoom with participants - also known as Future Makers – outlining the moonshots developed in five working sessions led by Singularity University (SU) over the last two weeks.

The Pivot Event is a virtual gathering of the Caribbean region’s leading innovators and entrepreneurs who have come together to think about the big ideas for electric mobility, digital transformation and tourism. The event is hosted by the IDB and its partners SU, The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator (CCSA) and Destination Experience (DE).

His Excellency Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana will address participants at the closing along with Kirk-Anthony Hamilton, Founder of Destination Experience and Racquel Moses, CEO of the Climate Smart Accelerator.

Winners of the Pivot Search crowdsourcing competition also participated in the event. In the weeks leading up to the Pivot Event there was a public call for ideas with the top three being determined by a panel of experts and a public vote. After the close of the event the IDB and its partners will work together to develop a roadmap for the moonshots including access to funding.

‘Our Manifesto of Moonshots’ will also include a musical celebration featuring well known Caribbean entertainer DJ Private Ryan and musical ambassadors of love Freetown Collective. The musical celebration takes place on Friday October 30th at 6pm (EDT) on Caribbean Pivot YouTube and Facebook.
