EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Bahamas Reef Environment Educational Foundation (BREEF) is looking for a dynamic person to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills with excellent follow through.

Education Officer

The successful candidate will coordinate and implement BREEF’s public outreach and school-based education programmes. The candidate will be based in New Providence and will work full-time with our team of committed staff to fulfill BREEF’s mission. BREEF’s mission is to promote the conservation of the Bahamian marine environment that sustains our way of life. Salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

1. Organize and coordinate general and logistical aspects of BREEF’s school-based activities, summer camps and workshops.
2. Lead outdoor educational activities in coastal and marine environments.
3. Assist with the development of
educational programmes and materials.
4. Assist with the implementation of the Eco-Schools Bahamas Programme.
5. Prepare for, and conduct public education (outreach) activities.
6. Serve as project manager on assigned projects: write project reports, meet grant requirements.
7. Assist with work planning, fundraising, grant and report writing and special events.

Eligibility Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree in science
• Experience conducting outdoor youth educational
activities
• Computer literate •
• Willing to travel
Good communication, writing, analytical and problem -solving skills
Strong swimmer
SCUBA certification is an asset but is not a requirement
