IDB Cultural Center launches call for proposals for cultural projects

Cultural and artistic entrepreneurs can submit their proposals through a new, secure and user-friendly electronic application form

The
Cultural Center of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has launched a call for proposals addressed to arts and cultural institutions of the civil society to fund cultural development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean through its Cultural Development Grant Program.

Artistic and cultural institutions from the Bank’s
26 borrowing member countries i in Latin America and the Caribbean may send their applications for funding through the new online platform before February 28, 2014. This platform will help speed up the process providing a form with a clear design, easy to use and with a higher level of confidence and security for all users. The projects are evaluated for their viability, educational scope, effective use of resources, ability to mobilize additional financial resources, and the long-term impact on the community.

The IDB may approve between $3,000 and $7,000 per project. The organizations are responsible for providing additional resources to support the project on an ongoing basis.

Through the
Cultural Development Program , the IDB has partnered with over 600 institutions promoting the preservation and recovery of traditions and cultural heritage conservation to contribute to community development through economic and social activities in a sustainable manner.

The IDB Cultural Center, of the Cultural, Solidarity and Creativity Affairs Division of the Office of External Relations will officially launch the call for proposals for the entire region during the 13th IDB-Civil Society meeting, taking place in Cali, Colombia, November 14–15, 2013.
