Freeport, Bahamas - Under the theme “ Escape- a journey to the world’s hottest destinations,” the Miss Junior Grand Bahama pageant returns to Grand Bahama, promising to be bigger and better than ever. The theme ESCAPE inspired by the world’s hottest destinations to date such as Bali, and Cabo will be featured throughout the pageant season during the preliminary events and crowning night. Pageant President, Colette Parker, stated that she hopes this will give the girls some knowledge of many magnificent places around the world; places they probably never even heard of. Yes, it is a teen beauty pageant, “but we hope to open their minds and help to change their outlook of the world and the many opportunities they can get.”

This year marks their fifth annual milestone. Having been successful over the past four years, with two international titles, and one national title under their belt, they have revamped their structure and are confident that they will capture more titles to put under their belt. Reigning queen Shavon Nottage, who is also the reigning Miss Teenager Bahamas and Elite Model Bahamas, is a clear indication that young ladies from this pageant do succeed and “show up.”

Shavon has been dominating the fashion and pageant industry here in the Bahamas for the past year. In 2013 she was selected as the representative for the Miss Teenager Bahamas pageant and traveled to Panama to compete in the Miss Teenager International pageant, where she placed 4thoverall. She made history by being the first Bahamian to make it to the top five. 2013 was a great year to her as she later on competed in the Elite Model Look Bahamas competition. In the end, she made history again by being the first native from Grand Bahama, and also the first official Elite Model Look Bahamas. Shavon, along with past queens such as Garret Bowleg ( Miss Junior Grand Bahama 2012), Jasmine Forbes ( Miss Junior Grand Bahama 2011) have all made history and have represented the Miss Junior Grand Bahama Organization well. Nottage stated, “my journey with Miss Junior Grand Bahama has been life changing and I am blessed to pass on this torch to another young lady who life will be changed as well.” Crowning night is set for May, 4thtime the Miss Junior Grand Bahama Organization is seeking all interested and eligible contestants.
