BLTA Elects New President (after 4 years) and New Slate of Officers

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) has elected a new President and Slate of Officers/Council Members on Thursday past.  Ms.  Darnette Weir has been elected the new President of the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association.  Nine of the 12 officers elected, names were presented by Ms. Weir for nomination in her platform presentation that was disseminated electronically to BLTA members.  Ms. Weir noted that the Board’s platform for the 2-year term would be:

·         To bridge the gap within the tennis community;

·         To focus on grass-root Tennis in recruiting raw talent amongst underprivileged children;

·         To make the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association financially stable to implement needed programs to grow Tennis; and to comfortably cover operational cost;

·         To be a vibrant presence in the sporting arena in The Bahamas.


The Administration also would be serving under the theme "Transforming the Tennis Arena."
