Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Claiming the country's second medal and a season best, Bahamas' men's 4 x 400m relay team of Chris Brown, Steven Gardiner, Alonzo Russeel and Michael Mathieus are taking home a bronze from the 2016 Olympic games after a valiant performance, and a time of 2:58.49 on Saturday night.

They were behind the USA who claimed the gold with a time of 2:57.30;  and in second was Jamaica with silver at a time of 2:58.16.

"We went out there and we gave it our best," Chris Brown told The Tribune. "A lot of people didn't believe that we could do it, but we came through and it's better to go home with a bronze than to go without anything. So I'm very pleased with the way the guys performed."

The Bahamas other medal was won by Shaunae Miller, with a gold in the women's 400 m.

The Olympics closing ceremony will take place today.
