NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Michael Pintard addressed Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Americas 2017 Press Conference at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium, on July 5, 2017.

The Minister welcomed all (NBA) to the facilities and The Bahamas. He saluted the coaches, trainers, professional players and volunteers for mentoring the young players and sharing the mechanics of the game and important values that are potentially transformative in the young athletes' lives.

Minister Pintard pointed out how basketball has not only developed healthy bodies, developed discipline, camaraderie, and lifelong relationships, but also opened the door for scholarships, careers in basketball, and has also allowed socially conscious athletes to change entire communities.

He acknowledged the value of competition but underscored the importance of competing clean. Minister Pintard noted the value of excellence on the court, but emphasized the greater value of brilliance in life off the court.
